An exciting opportunity has arisen with Haven Banks Outdoor Education in Exeter. Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre is a pioneering partnership between Devon County Council & Exeter College, Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre provides a contemporary hub for outdoor activities for young people and adults from Exeter, Devon and across the region.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and well organised individual as a Lead Multi Activity Instructor with specific responsibilities for delivery and support of the centre Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions, Ten Tors training provision, as well as other land and water-based activities available from the centre.

The successful applicant will hold a variety of National Governing Body Awards and be able to demonstrate previous experience leading, coaching and mentoring groups and individuals of all ages and abilities and from every background.

The individual we are seeking must be able to work alone as well as part of the team and have passion for delivering outdoor and adventurous activity programmes which inspire and motivate students, enabling them to build confidence and allow them to achieve and reach their full potential.

Applicants will need a flexible approach as the role includes weekend and evening work at key times during the year, none more so than the Ten Tors and DofE Expedition seasons.

Priority will ultimately focus on safe practice, as well as learning, enjoyment, and achievement as part of structured practical programmes of activity.

The post will include delivery to all users of the Centre involving:

  • Approximately 20% centre-based admin and preparation time and 80% outdoor instructional delivery work.
  • Residential expedition weekends and evening sessions.
  • Working in all weather’s conditions throughout the year
  • Constantly and continually managing the vagaries of different groups and group members.

Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre. We are seeking flexible, enthusiastic, versatile, dynamic and organised Seasonal Multi Activity Outdoor Adventure Instructors to complement our full-time staff team.

Exciting opportunities are now available at Haven Banks Outdoor Education in Exeter. In a pioneering and award winning partnership between Devon County Council and Exeter College, Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre provides a contemporary hub for outdoor activities for young people and adults from Exeter, Devon and across the region.

Haven Banks remains busy all year and we are seeking  staff to work on a casual basis year round, as well as seasonal staff to work more substantially during our main season from May to October.

Successful applicants will hold a minimum of one National Governing Body leadership award and be able to demonstrate previous experience leading, coaching and mentoring groups and individuals of all ages and abilities and from every background.

Activity leadership qualifications could include: paddle sports, sailing, rock climbing, climbing wall, caving, mountain biking or archery.

You must be able to work alone, as well as part of the team and have a passion for delivering outdoor and adventurous activity programs which will inspire and motivate participants, enabling them to get the very best results.
